Environment
We take our environmental
responsibilities seriously and all our activities are managed in such a way as
to ensure that they are sustainable within the environment. Good event planning
goes a long way towards achieving our aims but it is imperative that members
appreciate that their roll is vital too.
The full SCEC environmental code is detailed in the club handbook.
Areas of particular concern are land
damage & pollution, noise, waste disposal and disruption to residents and
other users of the countryside. Riders are reminded of the following key
points;
á
The
current FIM noise limit for enduro machines is 94db – this limit will be
rigidly enforced at all SCEC events. All four-strokes must be fitted
with an ÔEnduroÕ or ÔQÕ type pipe.
á
Rear tyres
are restricted to either Enduro or Trials pattern. Some events will be
restricted to Trials pattern rear tyres only. The definition of an Enduro tyre
is a road legal (ÔeÕ marked) tyre with a tread height of less than 13mm.
á
Environmental
mats must be used by all competitors when working on or re-fuelling their
machines. The 2007 SCEC membership
package includes a special mat that absorbs oil & petrol but not water
which should be used for this purpose.
Replacements are available at a nominal cost.
á
All
riders will be presented with a bin-liner at signing on. All
participants are equally responsible for ensuring that venues are left free of
litter.
á
The
washing of bikes at events is forbidden.
